This document seeks to highlight the components of drug courts that are beneficial to apply to further improve their quality overall. This was created with the intent to be used by drug court professionals to help improve treatment practices. The document aims to explain what elements of the program work, followed by recommendations to assist courts in implementing the best practices to improve overall program operations. The guidance in this document is intended for interpretation at the local and state levels in a manner that allows teams to consider their resource limitations and diverse population needs. In each chapter, the researchers’ recommendations are presented in order of importance, with an extensive list of resources at the end of each chapter to further review the concepts discussed throughout.
