Presented by Paul Warren (NDRI), this webinar’s focus is to increase participants’ knowledge about treatment for co-occurring disorders (CODs) and referrals. Mr. Warren discusses the advantages and disadvantages of evidence-based interventions which are supported by scientific research, and consensus-based interventions, which are based on a consensus of experts. He describes the overarching principles of treating CODs, the goal of which is to provide fully integrated care so that clients receive the best possible chance of treating all of their disorders. After more in-depth discussion of evidence-based practices – which are the preferred approach to treatment – he discusses and defines the concept of “fidelity”: the degree to which an evidence-based practice is implemented and its level of transferability.
