Ethics & Cultural Competence in Clinical Practice

 In this training you will learn eight principles which guide ethical, culturally competent clinical practice; how to address counselor “unfinished business” which can create ethical dilemmas; 10 characteristics of culturally competent service providers; issues of ethics and cultural competence in individual, group and family therapy; principles of ethics and cultural competence in a diversity of communities; how to address intersectionality, clever stories and microaggressions in cross cultural counseling and how to develop an inclusive organization.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Be able to use 8 principle to guide ethical, culturally competent clinical practice
  • Be able to assess your own culturally competent practice using a 10 point scale
  • Be able to build rapport with clients in the cross cultural counseling relationship in an ethical manner
  • Be able to build cohesion in groups with multi-cultural membership
  • Have criteria to ethically serve clients from diverse backgrounds ethically
  • Be able to use 7 strategies to create an inclusive organization
